Flood Risk ConsultantReliance Foundation Jun 2023 - Sep 2023Mumbai, Maharashtra, IndiaI spent the summer of 2023 working as a flood-risk consultant at Reliance Foundation headquarters in Mumbai. During these two months, I compiled a report that located villages vulnerable to flooding in the Indian state of Odisha. This was done by using a software (GIS) that assessed a plethora of different parameters, for example poverty levels or proximity to a hospital, and plotted the data onto informative maps. These maps will then be used by Reliance Foundations Disaster Management team to carry out their relief work more concisely during the next flood. -

On top of this, the school suffered from intermittent water supply due to leaking pipes. This often led to children being unable to wash themselves or brush their teeth. So, a fellow volunteer and I set up a fundraiser to purchase new pipes. Once the new pipes came, we replaced the broken ones, and the water pressure was consistent again.
