I sit on the policy advocacy and federal government affairs team for Communications & External Affairs and provide research, facts and figures, as well as help implement bp’s government affairs priorities. Dates of experience include initially working as a contractor for four months.

Delivered social media and other communications consulting services to clients ranging from a trade association (PhRMA) to a major electricity company (formerly Suez Energy Resources) to local business owners (muralist, real estate agent, bagel shop, etc.).

Acted as the primary liaison for the senior vice president of an 18-person communications department to Fortune 500 company contacts, vendors, public relations/affairs firms, and staff from other departments.Served as a media spokesman on a national bus tour, drafted external and internal communications, collaborated with HR on personnel issues and worked with finance on budget matters. Experience included working six months as a contractor.

Energy & Commerce Committee: Functioned as deputy communications director for the US House Energy and Commerce Committee and aide for the energy and oversight/investigations subcommittees, helping to promote high-profile Committee investigations into corporate fraud, resulting in significant national print and television coverage.House Resources Committee: Helped then-named US House Resources Committee garner media coverage for Congressional hearings. Also authored press releases and coordinated media interviews with staff. House Education & Workforce Committee: Contributed to the development of media strategy for a bipartisan special project on labor law reforms under the then-named US House Education and Workforce Committee. Researched and authored several chapters and acted as chief editor of a final report that detailed findings and recommendations.Includes one month in 1999 when I was not employed with the U.S. House of Representatives.

Researched, drafted and edited reports and opinion-editorials, orchestrated press conferences, wrote press releases and booked media interviews for Project 21 members, featuring African-Americans seeking to have their perspectives on key issues of the day shared with a wide audience.
