My work as a Field Officer (South)/Research Associate at MICI involved:a. Monitoring five mining affected states of South India: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Goa. Field work primarily in Andhra Pradesh's tribal areas and Gadag, Karnataka.a. Achievements:- Organised training workshops on mining and environmental legislation, the Forest Rights Act, PESA, MMDR and LA act in 9 rural locations and 2 urban areas.- Enabled communities to take action against illegal land acquisition and illegal mining in their districts and via the judiciary.- Organised the annual Executive Council meeting of the mines, minerals & PEOPLE alliance, the release of its dossier 'Mining Matters' and the Bangalore premiere of the documentary 'The Curse of Karna.' - Co-authored the paper 'Can Economic Policies Undermine the Constitution of India?' presented at Yale University. - Participated in the EU workshops on Human Rights Defenders and Statistical Applications in Human Rights
