Developed an advanced crop and weed detection system to tackle the challenge of weed interference in agriculture, with the key objective of reducing pesticide waste and optimizing crop productivity. Utilized a dataset of 1300 labeled images of sesame crops and various weed types, meticulously preparing the data through cleaning, resizing, and manual labeling of bounding boxes. Implemented two models, including a VGG16-based convolutional neural network (CNN) and an SVM classifier, achieving exceptional precision and accuracy. The system employed an object detection algorithm combining Selective Search and SVM classification, allowing for efficient region proposal, feature extraction, and non-maximum suppression. Performance testing validated the system's effectiveness in memory usage, processing speed, accuracy, durability, and power consumption.
