I worked for the consultancy as an engineering intern, where I was given the opportunity to innovate the design of a pedestrian overpass in a team of like-minded civil engineers. Here I demonstrated a variety of transferrable skills with a can-do attitude. Utilizing my strong communication skills, I was able to convey my ideas to my team and discussed the design aspects of the overpass with our client. When faced with challenges brought upon by the complexity of the project, I consulted with my supervisor on the appropriate usage of Australian Standards. Whether it was arriving at the right combination of loads acting on the overpass or if it was the analysis of bending moments and shear forces, I showcased my technical competencies as a professional engineer. My team was able to produce all the required deliverables of the project under a strict deadline and it was because of our structured and efficient approach. Divvying up the project using Trello as means to manage the project and then compiling resources in a safe and accessible manner ensured the smooth delivery of the project. I finished my internship presenting my project to various professionals from the industry who applauded my efforts, an achievement that I will always take pride in.
