Bedford, England, United Kingdom

Responsible the the leadership of 5 vehicle remarketing sites in the south of england processing some 4000 used vehicles for resale by auction each week. I was accountable for all aspects of the regional results, both financial and operational.Successes during this role included delivering a project to make permanent a "pop up" site that had been established during the pandemic, establishing a new transport hub and making significant health and safety improvements across each site. Additionally in Bedford secured funding to significantly change the site flow to improve customer experience whilst also driving operational efficiency.I established the first credible labour planning tool within the organisation enabling more robust labour planning and cost control.Working within a small project team I was responsible for the engagement element of a significant operating model change which was well received by the impacted teams and supported the effective adoption of the new model.

Home Counties & East

A senior role within the Waitrose Retail leadership team responsible for the leadership of 24 shops across the Home Counties with a turnover in excess of £500m per annum. Accountable for delivery of all financial and non-financial measures including turnover, operating profit, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and legal compliance.Following the creation of a brand new region I actively developed a culture of collaboration and support, engaging the 4000 strong team as widely as possible and as a result significantly improving metrics across all areas.Additionally I continued to support change projects in the pay and productivity space, representing the voice of retail.

A “Subject Matter Expert” for retail pay supporting the retail director in the delivery of the £500m annual budget and developing future strategy.This role involved a considerable amount of cross functional working with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure that any changes to the operating model were properly costed and embedded into budgets.I led on the finance and governance workstream of an organisational restructure impacting all Waitrose shops, managing the reduction in headcount cross the estate ensuring that the business case was achieved.Led the development of the retail labour model to drive workload for a workforce management deployment. Mapped and measured every process undertaken in a Waitrose shop along with the required drivers to ensuring the equitable distribution of the labour budget.

During this period I led 6 shops, fully accountable for all aspects of both operational and financial performance. Noteworthy was the full refurbishment at Ely which resulted in business leading growth and the opening of a new shop in North Walsham which delivered outstanding customer metrics.

East Anglia

Fulfilled the role of Department Manager in 4 shops, typically leading team's of around 100 people. Notably managed the relocation of the Newmarket shop, a full refurbishment in Norwich and supported with the establishment of one of the first Waitrose shops in Scotland.

Various

A variety of first line manager roles with full accountability for all aspects of one area of the shop - typically leading teams of 50-75 people. Additionally supported the openings of new sites in Bury St Edmunds, Southend on Sea and Monmouth.
