Sutton Uplift – Improving Access to Psychological TherapiesIAPT – is a Wellbeing service and a Primary Care Recovery and Support Service that treats anxiety disorders and depression with talking therapies. Interventions include CBT, DIT, IPT, BCT and EMDR. The team is a combination of qualified Counselling/Clinical Psychologists, CBT Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.Key responsibilities:• Providing evidence based CBT treatment on an individual basis to clients aged 18 and over presenting with depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and eating disorders. Currently accrued 100 clinical hours• Providing step 3 assessments• Undertaking risk assessments and risk management• To evaluate and make decisions about treatment • Keeping clinical records • Receiving weekly clinical supervision

Merton Uplift – Primary Care Recovery Service (PCRS) is a community mental health team that supports patients with severe and enduring mental health problems including severe anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders and bipolar disorder and who would benefit from a recovery approach to care. PCRS also aims to bridge the gap for patients who have been discharged from secondary care teams back to their GP. Interventions are aimed at preventing relapse, maximising role functioning, reducing risk of self-harm and promoting better adjustment to their daily living as well as changing or reviewing psychiatric medication. Key responsibilities:• Giving time limited therapeutic interventions to patients before they receive psychological therapy. Examples include behavioural activation, graded exposure, anxiety management, grounding techniques and challenging negative automatic thoughts• Co-facilitating treatment groups – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Group• Co-facilitating self-help courses for example sleep hygiene, managing anxiety, managing change• Conducting risk assessments• Managing my own caseload of clients to support them towards recovery using a person-centred approach to make changes in their life• Signposting and referring patients to relevant services• Supporting patients on their use of SilverCloud – an online cognitive behavioural therapy course aimed to address a wide range of mental health problems

Waddon Ward, based in River House, Bethlem Royal Hospital is a nationwide recognised specialised 15 bedded medium secure unit in a Personality Disorder Service for males. Patients stay for a minimum of two years with the aim to receive a range of psychological, psychosocial and vocational interventions. Patients are part of an offender personality disorder pathway in order to rehabilitate into the community. Key responsibilities:• Co-facilitated therapeutic groups e.g. the Violence Reduction Programme, a compulsory therapeutic treatment designed to reduce the risk of violence using relapse prevention and motivational interviewing approaches• Did 1:1 work with patients to help them resolve interpersonal difficulties and conflicts on the ward• Attended training sessions to increase knowledge and awareness on personality disorder • Worked under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse to provide planned, individualised care and support on a 24 hour basis to clients • Had monthly supervision sessions with an allocated supervisor to reflect on learning and discuss difficulties in the workplace • Built therapeutic relationships with patients and helping them rehabilitate into the community• Took part in psychological assessments including risk assessments of violence (HCR-20)• Undertook 1:1 engagement and observations with service users • Ensured the maintenance of clinical records in accordance with good practice and codes of agreed standards

11 South is a 25 bedded ward which provides emergency and planned neurosurgery and a range of specialist care for patients across North West London. The role involves supporting and encouraging independence to patients with cognitive impairment or mental health/social problems due to brain injury.Key responsibilities:• Assisted and carryied out assigned tasks under the supervision of a senior medical professional• Cared for patients in multidisciplinary teams with a wide range of medical staff including nurses, doctors and occupational therapists• Communicated with patients or relatives of patients with concerns they may have • Did 1:1 observations with confused or cognitively impaired patients that need constant observation and supervision• Gave direct care and assisting patients with daily tasks that they may find difficult due to their diagnosis • Promoted positive mental (and physical) health with patients by encouraging independence • Being kind and having a caring attitude whist offering social stimulationsKey achievements/projects• Completion of the care certificate. The post had agreed targets and clinical outcomes that needed to be met within 12 weeks of employment in the form of a clinical workbook ‘the care certificate’. It was a requirement to document skills, knowledge and experience until competent. This was successfully completed.
