As an Environmental Scientist III, I am the senior scientist responsible for performing professional and comprehensive in-depth Title V inspections at air contaminant sources. The responsibilities for that function of my job include, but are certainly not limited to: completing file reviews, detailed on-site inspections and follow-ups, preparing inspection reports (including Notices of Violation and Referrals to Enforcement when necessary), updating the department’s computer database, interpreting state and federal regulations and air permits, and providing technical assistance to businesses in the regulated community. In addition to working with the regulated community, I also investigate citizen complaints, provide educational outreach when requested, attend required and voluntary trainings, assist with training new personnel, and openly communicate with my counterparts in the various regional offices as well as upper management in Frankfort. It is important to note that during my time as an Inspector I and II, I was responsible for the oversight of the asbestos program in the Owensboro region.

During college breaks and immediately after, I worked as a cashier at the Walmart in Owensboro as well as the one in Murray, Kentucky while classes were in session. For the duration of my employment, I had a variety of responsibilities including: performing cash handling procedures while assisting customers, providing excellent customer service, assisting fellow employees as needed, participating in company-sponsored events in the community, and answering department-specific calls.

While attending Murray State University to complete my Bachelor's degree, I was able to qualify for the University Work Study Program and was assigned to the Scholarship Office. During my employment, my responsibilities ranged from inputting sensitive personal student information into the database to taking phone calls and answering questions from other students/potential students/parents/other university to filing paperwork.

During the second semester of my freshman year, I was privileged to work as an intern through the Disney College Program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida. My time at Disney allowed me to gain experience in selling food and beverages at various carts in the park, greeting guests and assisting them with directions and helpful hints about the park to enhance their Disney experience, and working with fellow cast members to complete inventory and restocking. I had the opportunity to take introductory courses at Disney University and also completed online courses through Murray State (a benefit typically afforded to seniors).
