After working for 8 years as a paramedic I received my RN from an accelerated nursing program in Michigan. I quickly went for my BSN afterwards at Capella University. Once becoming a nurse I decided to start out at Detroit Receiving’s Trauma Burn ICU. After a year of working there I started to work per diem at Henry Ford’s emergency room. Since then I rotate back and forth between ER’s and ICU’s. My main focus with ICU has been burn ICU and medical ICU’s with limited floating to SICU. In regards to ER, I have worked anywhere from free standing ERs to Level 1 trauma center ER’s. I have grown so much from being able to work in pre-hospital care then transitioning to intensive care and ER’s. I have also grown from getting to experience medicine in Detroit, multiple areas of Michigan, Ohio, Texas, and now Colorado. My experience from pre-hospital care, to ICU, to Emergency Medicine has shaped me into a well rounded critical care nurse.
