I am Ashley Boldt, a teacher with the District School Board of Niagara driven by a passion for education, youth development, and the arts. While my current path leads me toward a career in teaching, my journey originates from a deep love for theatre.I attended York University, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, specializing in Production and Design. During my time at York, I gained invaluable experiences through my practicum placements at Theatre @ York Productions, which equipped me with skills in team management, mentoring, effective time management, and organization. In addition to my academic pursuits, I actively participated in extracurricular activities, including involvement in the playGround Theatre Festival, Vanier College Productions, the Theatre Student Association, and the Prague Quadrennial. My passion for teaching emerged during my final year at York University when I mentored 1st-year students during my practicum placement with Theatre @ York. This led me to shift my focus towards building the skills necessary for a teaching career. In 2021, I began volunteering with Peace by PEACE, where I taught Grade 6 students about conflict resolution and community building. My dedication to Peace by PEACE was recognized with the Mentor of the Year and Most Supportive Teaching Team of the Year awards in April 2022.My commitment to education continued as I joined Carousel Players, a children's theatre company, initially as a summer theatre school assistant and later as an Arts Educator. In these roles, I had the opportunity to create lesson plans and lead theatre-based activities for youth in Carousel Players' after-school and summer programs. My journey then led me to Brock University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Education in preparation for my career as a teacher. Brock University allowed me to further expand my expertise through professional development workshops and practicum placements. As a newly certified teacher who recently joined the occasional teacher list with DSBN, I enter the workforce filled with enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead of me.
