Lean is an approach to continuous improvement which empowers employees to remove wasteful tasks from the work they do, so that they can focus on creating value for the customer.

This role is the culmination of my career history to date, it allows me to fulfill my passion for sharing my knowledge and experience to help others. I partner with a diverse mix of organisations, providing them with consultation services on business process improvement and project management (agile and waterfall). This includes speaking on these topics, providing education, facilitating workshops, organising Kaizen events and hands-on leadership where required. For business process improvement initiatives I use Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to ensure consistent measurable results, which focus on delivering value to the customer. For project management I draw on my knowledge of various methodologies to identify and tailor what is right for the organisation and project, although I do admit to being a bit of an agile convert these days as it also has a strong focus on rapid delivery of value.

In this exciting role I'm helping the innovative Global Sales Technology team refine their project management processes, aligning them more closely with the Scrum (Agile) framework. This is a great opportunity for me to learn about Salesforce CRM, address the challenges of implementing agile in a globally distributed team and share my Project Management expertise within a leading international brand.

As the EMEA Transitions Lead I guide and assist projects within my portfolio to achieve success through consultation, governance and supporting material. I work with the relevant Director keeping them informed on the progress of the ongoing projects, as well as my work being visible to the service line's Global Vice President. In addition, I work with the EMEA new business teams to understand the project pipeline and call out risks early on. I also perform the function of Project Management Lead within the EMEA operations team, taking on ad-hoc project as required. This role has given me the opportunity to drive innovation, through the presentation of new concepts and piloting new technology. I've Produced efficiency through automation, use of cloud-based solutions and streamlined processes. I have also increased my knowledge of Agile and Design Thinking practices through in-house education and refined my project management skills through completion of Prince2 certification.

Having proved my potential as a Junior Project Manager I was offered the opportunity to run my own project on a high profile and commercially important account. The objective was to implement configuration management across multiple IT environments. The project performed extremely well with an expectation of completing under budget. On several occasions I met and presented to the customer in their London offices. Within the last six months of this project I was headhunted internally by the EMEA Operations team and was not able to see the project through to completion, however I am proud of what I had achieved up to that point and I left the project in a good health. During this period I was also involved in other project related activities, including a sub-project which I took over and successfully completed, implementing a data bridge between IBM and a supplier ticketing system. I was also regularly responsible for covering the Programme Manager’s roles while they were away. I am extremely happy with the progress I made during this role and I believe that it was an excellent opportunity for me to gain valuable experience, which I will be able to carry over to all future projects.

Due to my training work and experience with the out in-house service management tooling I was asked to take on an SME role assisting Project Managers training staff migrating to the service management tool. As this role developed I became the trainer, then taking on the role of the project manager who I was originally supporting. I then ran my own education sub-project and continue to prove that I can consistently meet my targets and deadlines. I developed a completely new approach to delivering education and proactively improved my project management skills by completing in-house training.

I joined IBM as a Technical Support agent and after gaining experience on the service desk I was asked to assist with a data migration project at a customer’s site. During these months I learned hands on about network infrastructure and I began to develop an understanding of how projects operate at IBM. Returning to the desk I was asked to take on a busy dispatching role which involved complex logistics and regular communication with third party suppliers. During quiet periods I was able to develop a training package for new starters and assisted in researching time saving techniques for our in-house service management tool.
