I have been in the education field for 10 years. I began my career as a special education paraprofessional and then quickly became a second grade educator for at- risk students in Birmingham. I then taught 6-12th-grade reading before becoming a Reading Specialist, and an Assistant Principal within the same community and I love EVERY minute. I am currently serving as Principal of Tarrant Elementary School and am passionate about my students, families, and staff. I am passionate about student literacy, growth, and holistic student development, as well as giving students opportunities to see futures for themselves. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy, and certification in Instructional Leadership. In my spare time, I enjoy painting and creative projects, learning, traveling (especially to the ocean), and spending time with my family and friends!I previously served as a Recruitment Specialist and Instructional Coach, I work to build, nurture, and support relationships with Read to Lead partners and learners in the greater Birmingham, Alabama area.
