    As the team lead for the Health product vertical, I was in charge of growing and leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, soft goods designers, and clinicians as well as NPI, Quality, and Manufacturing teams. As a key member of the strategy team I designed user testing, generated product strategy, obtained FDA Class 1 listing, and registered our product for reimbursement coding in HCPCS. I directly managed a team of 8 hardware engineers, and indirectly managed a multidisciplinary team of ~20 staff.The Health product, Ascend, was a custom fabricated smart knee orthosis for individuals with knee pain, knee instability, or quadriceps weakness. The Ascend Smart Orthosis displayed a lot of promise in user testing, reducing pain and improving mobility outcomes for study participants. The product was ready for a small volume launch in Spring 2022.

    Formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), my experience with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is a continuation of my tenure with RIC and the Center for Bionic Medicine. The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab ranks among the top rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S. In my time at RIC and the AbilityLab, I worked with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, students, researchers and engineers to design and develop novel rehabilitation technologies. My primary area of focus was body-powered and myoelectric prosthesis design and control. However, I also worked on a mechanical standing wheelchair, surgical implants and procedures, and tools for improving clinical care. -- PI and lead design engineer on $400,000 grant to design and evaluate custom surgical implants meant to help heal the wound site around percutaneous hardware for direct skeletal attachment of prosthetic devices-- Participated in cadaver study for innovative intramedullary limb lengthening device designed to lengthen residual limbs of individuals with limb deficiency for improved prosthetic socket fit and comfort-- Engineered standing wheelchair with mechanical hand-driven lift system to provide more accessibility to users with a lightweight and easy to transport design -- Authored or co-authored several grants for continued research and development of rehabilitation technologies (SBIR, DoD, and NIH)-- Mentored graduate students and supported them through design projects
