Title: Assessing development of differently-aged, created mangrove sitesI am studying how the three mangrove species in Florida establish over time in created wetland sites and how the species composition of each site changes over time. In addition, I am analyzing how soil properties develop after site creation. Assisted in the supervision and training of Freshman Research Associates (Eckerd College Program) and in preparation for field work.Research being conducted has been presented at CERF 2017 and to complete a Marine Science Senior Thesis, which is planned to be defended in April 2018.

The internship was conducted at Eckerd College with Dr. Jeannine Lessmann. I processed and analyzed soil and sediment samples from Dr. Lessmann's research on wetland restoration in order to assess the impacts of different restoration methods and the ecological trajectory of restored sites in Tampa Bay, FL. Training in EndNote and other online scientific literature databases was an important component of the internship. The internship was for a minimum of 10 hours per week for a total of 150 hours.

Ensured safety and maintenance of two pools while lifeguarding. Coached and supervised a youth swim team with members aged 4-18, as well as teaching individual and group swim lessons.

North Springfield, Pa

Worked with children aged 6-15 at a traditional YMCA summer camp for three summers in various capacities. As a dish crew staff member organized, prepared, and cleaned the dining hall and kitchen before, during, and after meals. During this summer, completed a three year leadership development program. As a counselor, worked with campers to instruct and guide them in various activities and their personal growth,including directly supervising seven campers under my care in a cabin. As a lifeguard, ensured safety and maintenance of a pool, an inland boating lake, and various activities at Lake Erie. In addition, assisted and taught swim lessons.
