Numbers are not up for interpretation. Calculus, Statistics, Geometry, and Algebra all have one thing in common: simplicity. There are plenty of ways to solve a math problem, but there is only one correct answer, which is why I have always gravitated toward math. I am a driven individual who craves challenges. Actuarial Science offers me a career that will constantly challenge me but also validate my determination. As an intern at Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., I have solved complex math problems with practical business applications. I spent the majority of my time working in Excel and VBA to analyze competitor rate filings and use analytical skills to adjust Ameritas’ pricing accordingly. I also reevaluated outdated testing tools by applying current forecasts that fit ongoing trends in the industry. Through my internship with Ameritas, I have learned what it takes to work in a fast-paced environment filled with ambiguity and problem-solving. I have been successful in learning complex concepts in a short timeframeI strive to be efficient in my work by being able to strategically solve problems as they present themselves, perfect for a position in the fast-paced industry of Insurance and Risk. I am pursuing full-time opportunities to work as an actuary in Property & Casualty Insurance.
