As part of the Language Evolution and Interaction research group, I investigate language evolution through language use. I focus on the effect of repair and negotiating on conventionalization in emergent communication systems. To do so, I carry out iterated learning experiments using silent gesture. I taught three courses as a lecturer at UCLA: Introduction to Language Learning and Teaching; Language and Gender; and, Language in Culture. For each course I developed the curriculum, including syllabus, reading selection, assignments and research projects, assessment materials, and daily lesson plans/lectures. I evaluated student performance and provided.

I have taught numerous courses at UCLA, including Spanish 1-3, ESL (conversation and oral skills), Language Learning and Teaching, Language and Gender, and the Nature of Learning. As a PLF for the Academic Advancement Program I ran individual and small group tutoring sessions for underrepresented students at UCLA in content areas such as Spanish and writing.
