Hi, my name is Ashley. I am a senior forensic psychology major at GCU. My research has included the criminal justice system, criminal behavior, and psychology. My hope is to work with those suffering from mental illness. I have struggled with mental illness in the past, which is what fueled my passion for this area. While in college, I have been volunteering as a crisis counselor for the crisis text line and the chat portion of the suicide prevention lifeline. Seeing the tremendous amount of people who text in every night and not enough people to get to them has made me truly understand the rising need for more mental health professionals. My supervisors frequently commend me for my genuine empathy and people often provide feedback on how much I helped them. I’m seeking opportunities to put what I have learned to use upon graduating in April. I’d love to get in touch should you come across any opportunities that I may be good for or recommend anyone else that I can connect with.
