About Ashley Ankrom

I am a 33-year-old mother of one, a son, named Jensen. I was born and primarily raised in the city of Fort Pierce in the beautiful sunshine state of Florida. I grew up with two parents and two sisters and attended public school. It was through my experience in the public school system that I decided I wanted to become a public-school teacher. I have been working for SLPS for 9 years and am currently a math coach at a kindergarten through eighth grade school.I have had a passion for mathematics since I was in middle school and have allowed that passion to become a daily part of my life. I enjoy getting to show students how to solve problems using mathematical logic and building their application skills. I believe in being a life-long learner and will continue to grow my craft and skills in the education profession.

My education philosophy is that all students are capable of learning mathematics when teachers are provided the tools they need to deliver quality instruction to their students. I believe that mathematics is best learned when students have ample opportunity to practice and build their skills when immediate feedback or facilitation is provided. I think that there is a great deal that teachers can learn from an effective collaborative learning and planning (CLP) communities that come together to plan quality instruction, instruction tasks and items, and develop common assessments among role-alike groups.
