I conducted research on the EITC and CTC and how they can lessen the racial wealth gap. I presented this research at an international conference for over 100 community advocates. I coordinated voter engagement efforts with over 500 food pantry clients and homeless shelter clients by registering clients to vote and asking clients to fill out pledge cards. I facilitated community engagement workshops with food pantry clients, created and distributed a Colorado ballot guide, trained and supervised volunteers, and stocked the food.

I authored a two-page fact sheet summarizing the science behind the FDA adopting a risk-based assessment approach for screening donated blood. Partnered with University of Michigan to spearhead community-driven research projects. I analyzed community survey data about neighborhood services and access to nutritious food and created a report summarizing my findings. I also collaborated with community members to assess neighborhood blocks following a 10,000-person cleanup initiative.

I worked with staff throughout the Foundation Department. I conducted research to assist the organization in being more inclusive of marginalized groups such as people of color within the LGBTQ community and authored a proposal on the topic. I also wrote blog posts and edited foundation materials, such as an HIV/AIDS prevention pamphlet that HRC.

I facilitated intergroup dialogues with high school students from Metropolitan Detroit on race, racism, privilege/oppression, and intersectionality. I mentored the students in developing community action plans to address racism in their schools and communities.

This program matches interns with congressional offices and provides weekly trainings led by LGBTQ movement leaders. I was one of eight college students chosen to participate. I wrote cosponsor recommendations and constituent letters, and I used the Intranet Quorum database to sort and batch constituent correspondence based on policy issues.
