This lab focuses on conducting research that looks at the frequency of plea bargaining recommendations in the state of Washington. Responsibilities include filling out and submitting IRB’s, literature review, paper writing, poster construction and presentation, and submissions to journals.

Using training in Applied Behavioral Analysis, I worked with children and adolescents with language, communication, behavioral, and developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. I followed individualized treatment plans with programs created to improve skills including fine and gross motor, communication, social, personal hygiene, daily living, etc. I was responsible for running programs, collecting data, making phase changes, and communicating with my team (other BT's, BCBA, and parents) regarding the clients' progress.

Moving up from an entry level filing-clerk, I was responsible for fielding calls, assisting guests, taking payments, scheduling appointments and event coordinating. I also worked with one of the partners of the firm. I maintained organization by creating and closing cases, filing, and managing calendars. In addition I handled his outstanding balances, drafted pleadings, and filed documents with the court.

Strengthening Education in Juvenile Detention Centers (SEJDC) is a research program that is evaluating the quality of education in juvenile detention centers in the state of Washington with the intent to inform policy change. The project is on its fourth year and is staffed by two individuals who required some assistance to conduct a literature review. I was asked to take the lead on this and worked with my supervisor and another assistant to facilitate this task.

Assisted in an ongoing study examining a school-based intervention in adolescent substance users. Trained in Motivational Interviewing, personalized feedback from comprehensive assessments and engaging clients in relapse prevention based techniques. In addition of interventions, this lab required paper writing and poster construction and presentation.
