Coming into my first role at Nanotech Energy, I was assembling batteries in a laboratory, which involved attention to fine details and a surplus of data entry. Now, one short year later, I am a Procurement Agent with a few other team members. In this role, I look for companies that consider cost, quality, service, innovation, and sustainability. Growing with this startup company has been a blast and quiet an adventure! Just a few months into my Procurement role, I was tasked with establishing some type of inventory system for general use. I made a sheet that was kept live with counts and later transitioned into a more functional live worksheet. I now lead the inventory team at our secondary Chico location, which acts as our Production facility.

This referee position was for a recreational basketball league. The league had two different skill levels, and consisted of 2/3 games weekly, with 3 games per night. I would run all three hours, focusing, adjusting, positioning myself to make better calls, getting to know players, gaining confidence, and many other skills that translate to life off the court as well. I also reffed a few kids games on Saturdays that were fourth and fifth grade co-ed players. It was all such a great learning experience, as CARD offers a great recreational program!

I was given the task of finding a company in need of assistance when it came to their public relations and marketing department. I sought out the Recreation Department because they were seeing declines in registration, which I believed was due to a lack of knowledge on campus. I made a public service announcement to air on the radio station that we had on campus. This was a semester long internship that I did while taking the other 17 units.

Humboldt State's student-run radio station was where I ran some KRFH News segments which included gathering news, assembling it to flow well for listeners, and taking turns presenting the news. We would also record the segment, edit the audio, and upload for re-air throughout the day. I also hosted a weekly 1-2 hour radio show where I play my own choice of music and take requests over the phone.
