Responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable execution of all aspects of Air Separation, Hydrogen and CO2 plant operation in various geographic locations across the UK and South Africa. • Monitor plant parameters and adjust processes accordingly to achieve reliable and efficient operation using SCADA and Siemens PCS7 systems • Make real-time decisions to ensure production requirements and targets are met through proactive optimisation of process and plant configuration • Manage customer pipelines effectively and maintain production to suit customer demands

Managed all aspects of shift-based manufacturing operations within the Blast Furnaces in order to meet the business’ performance objectives (KPIs), ensuring safety was the highest priority. • Ensured service providers, both internal and external, achieve departmental objectives within budget and service level agreements • Liaised with internal customers and adjust operations accordingly to meet demand • Liaised with engineering teams to assist in the control of the maintenance strategy including routine, down day and stop period activities • Lead a 22 person shift team and manage holiday entitlement, organise overtime cover, deal with absenteeism and any disciplinary issues • Determined the training and development requirements of the shift team

Supported the Shift Manager in the management, control and co-ordination of multi-disciplined team members to ensure that safety objectives, operational targets and product quality aims are met. • Ensured that Safe Working Practices and Standard Operating Procedures were adhered to in both routine operations and start up / shut down operations • Investigated plant issues and managed any process disturbances • Managed access/egress to areas of plant using a permit to work system and plant isolations • Assist the shift teams with carrying out operational procedures and repairs when necessary

Supported the efficient operation of the blast furnaces through the provision of technical advice based on analysis and interpretation of plant process data, firstly based on days and then on shifts.• Provided technical assistance to the manufacturing team in the day to day running of the blast furnaces• Monitored the quality of iron and slag produced by the blast furnaces, raw material quality and proactively identified potential process/quality problems• Interfaced with the R&D and IT departments to ensure continual development of the plant and processes

Completed the Tata Steel Technical Graduate Scheme which included placements in Product Development/Project Management and Process Improvement.• Managed projects worth up to £250k/year• Planned and executed product development trials; liaised with other departments in order to achieve specific goals and collated and analyzed data to produce reports• Developed a program to track and improve rail yield using VBA and MySQL programming.
