About Ashley Kerns Brown

Ashley Kerns Brown holds an unshakable belief in the transformational power of the arts. She is currently the Deputy Director at the SC Arts Commission where she is responsible for the agency’s $12M grant portfolio and serves as Director of Arts Grow SC. Her leadership in the arts spans over 20 years, having worked in nonprofits, public schools, universities, and state government. Since fall of 2021, Ms. Brown has led Arts Grow SC, a $20M public investment in arts learning. The goals of Arts Grow SC are to increase access to quality arts education, develop arts-rich learning environments, build and support infrastructure for arts learning at the district level, and research and develop new innovative practices. Following a collective impact model, AGSC activates statewide partnerships through grants, direct programs, research and evaluation, collective networks, and professional learning. Ms. Brown is a graduate of Winthrop University (B.A. in Theatre) and Florida State University (M.F.A. in Theatre Management) and is an alum of the Riley Diversity Leadership Institute.
