New to law enforcement, the PPB tasked me with enhancing its policy program, specifically formalizing its policy review and development process. I researched, developed, and made policy and procedural recommendations that promoted internal accountability and ensured compliance with governing laws and a settlement agreement between the City of Portland and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Sharpened my project management skills by assisting in the development of a multi-million dollar district-wide school improvement bond program. While in the nascent stages of the project, my work largely centered on staff planning, budget development, and project progress and completion forecasting.

Working with the Board Operations team, I assisted in the management of all Board-related matters. This primarily included conducting legal and policy research, as well as developing reports/briefing materials typically pertaining to governance, strategic and operational matters, in an effort to support the decision-making process of the head of the agency.

In this role, I managed several agency programs including Veterans and Disability Employment Programs, various student and leadership programs and worked on several diversity and inclusion initiatives. In my capacity as the agency’s representative for those programs, I routinely worked with senior staff, drafted program policies, ensured compliance with federal laws and regulations and reported to external and internal stakeholders on program activities.

My responsibilities included providing individual tutoring and assistance for seventh grade students with special learning needs. I provided individual and small group instruction to students to reinforce regular classroom lectures, assessed the students' performance and provided feedback to both teachers and parents regarding students' academic progress and development.
