I’ve been fortunate to be embedded in the thriving sustainability culture of Portland, Oregon, both as a member of the core team at the ReBuilding Center, and as a volunteer at SCRAP and ReClaim It. In my role as Marketing & Communications Manager for the largest salvaged building material and deconstruction non-profit in the Pacific Northwest; I was part of the group that helped push through the nation's first deconstruction ordinance requiring all buildings built before 1916 to be deconstructed rather than demolished.Things that naturally interest me include but are not limited to: humans, the future of the planet, creative reuse, equity/inclusion, sustainability, environmental justice, building community and providing members of that community with the resources and knowledge to become more self-sufficient. Oh, and music. Mustn’t forget the music.
