As the first executive director, I have engaged with hundreds of private and public stakeholders to develop financial and technical tools to transform our local real estate market towards high-performance, low-carbon buildings. I lead workshops, webinars, and site tours to educate building owners and decision-makers about the science and financial strategy to move towards net zero and connect them to service providers and incentive programs. I also co-lead the Rising Trades program which equips diverse construction firms with the resources and strategy they need for plugging into emerging markets in sustainability. Working with the Mid-America Regional Council (www.marc.org), I partnered on several federal funding opportunities via IRA & IIJA to create an approach to technical assistance, working capital, and workforce training required to achieve this mission. This included working extensively with national and local partners on strategies related to the GHG Reduction Fund and Climate Pollution Reduction Implementation Grants. BE-Ex KC works with national partners that include BE-Ex NYC, BE-Ex St. Louis, Building Innovation Hub DC, Building Energy Resource Hub Chicago, Elevate Energy, The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and the Institute for Market Transformation.
