Registered Nurse
Current• Provide direct quality nursing care on a 42-bed unit within the department of critical care• Proficient in caring for patients who require tracheostomies, laryngectomies, telemetry monitoring, flap reconstructive surgery, thoracic surgeries, chemotherapies and biotherapies, surgical step-down patients requiring vasopressors and frequent monitoring and in responding to cardiopulmonary emergencies• Perform comprehensive assessments and manage both medical and surgical patients ranging from pediatrics through end-of-life care• Collaborate with members of the health care team, from LIPs to technicians, to implement care plans and ensure positive patient outcomes • Utilize critical thinking skills in order to provide safe and effective patient care, as well as escalating care in emergencies• Extensive training in telemetry and competency in recognizing dysrhythmiasCharge Nurse • Act as an expert nurse, managing complex patient care situations and demonstrating leadership and excellence in nursing practice• Serve as the primary decision maker for clinical operations during a given shift• Coordinate daily huddle amongst nurses, PCTs, and unit assistants to ensure all staff are aware of any unit-based issues• Encourage a culture that promotes staff productivity and positivity • Create day and night shift assignments based on acuityResource Nurse • Act as a unit expert for staff needing assistance with escalation of care, high risk medication checks, and practice issues• Attend level of care upgrades and assume care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring when on units without telemetry capability• Accompany and monitor critical/unstable step-down patients off unit to various tests and procedures
