In this role, I was responsible for spearheading all supply chain activities across 8 department, leading a combined team of 70 staff and managing an annual purchasing budget of $45million. My primary focus was to ensure that the right items were in the right place, at the right time, for the right price. I was tasked with controlling local and international procurement, overseeing customs clearance and managing transportation and distribution. This included sourcing new suppliers, negotiating prices and terms and awarding supply contracts. During this time I also managed key supply chain projects through their full lifecycle to achieve timely and cost effective delivery. As a leader I take a motivational and engaging approach, effectively managing underperformance by investigating the causes, providing guidance, setting clear expectations and implementing disciplinary proceedings where necessary. Key achievements in this position include:- Reinforcing corporate procedures for efficient procurement, including leading a move from local procurement to international procurement - Widening the network of suppliers and manufacturers for construction materials and delivering on-going cost reductions by continuously comparing prices - Liaising between Project Managers and the Logistics Department to reduce conflict, ensuring that both parties understand the other’s point of view and retain mutual respect - Delivering savings of $25million by sourcing alternative suppliers across the globe

I was accountable for the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the entire business, including profit and loss. As well as managing business-critical projects, I also lead a team of 150 staff and controlled an annual budget of $3.7million. During this time I was able to develop innovative strategies to enable the business to achieve challenging corporate objectives, and positively represented the business to customers, suppliers, professional bodies and investors.Key achievements in this position include:- Successfully increasing turnover by 40% in the first year - Rebuilding the business from scratch following a factory fire, including renting new premises, recovering materials and restarting production and distribution within just 2 months to maintain product availability- Improving morale and team cohesion following the fire, when there was uncertainty over job security

In this position I managed an on-site team of 200 to deliver major projects. My role included defining project objectives, agreeing project plans and scopes, building project budgets, setting performance requirements, managing scheduling and creating schematic layouts in line with quantifiable parameters. I also had responsibility for contract administration and valuations for projects valued at up to $25million. I liaised extensively with clients and consultants to ensure the smooth and successful running and handover of projects.Key achievements in this position include:- Consistently delivering profitable projects on time, on budget and in line with customer expectations - Completing a methanol plant project on schedule, under budget and with profit, winning additional contracts due to successful completion - Raising and winning contract claims worth $5million- Effectively handling scope changes at critical stages of the project, including a case where the client requested significant changes to the air conditioning system during the advanced stage of finishing, resulting in abortive works, new designs, additional approvals and making good on existing work - Steering challenging meetings with a very demanding Client Representative with an unrealistic schedule, building a positive relationship and updating him with progress to win his trust - Completing a complex turnkey project for a major telecommunications operator, coordinating all activities with subcontractors, incorporating their programme of work into the main project, monitoring and reporting on progress and updating applications with subcontractor valuations - Securing two further valuable projects from a major telecommunications operator based on the success of previous projects
