Asif graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, but he sucked at its practical aspects in the field. So, he knew he would die unemployed unless he found something else to do.In 2017, Asif attended an interview with Infosys for an entry-level role in the IT industry. There, he was stumped by the question, "what is Machine Learning?" Why wouldn't he be? He was a Civil Engineering undergrad who had the slightest clue regarding what was trending in tech then. Infosys made a wise decision in not hiring Asif (but little did they know that he would knock on their door again after four years). Within a week after this horrid show, Asif was found blabbering about football while talking about his hobbies in a different interview. This time the interviewing company was Accenture, who took the bait. Asif worked as a Data Analyst at Accenture for three years. Later, he found a berth on the job-hopping train of 2021 that took him to Deloitte via a brief halt en route at Infosys. Here's a fun fact - there were no questions about Machine Learning or hobbies in the interviews this time.Someone finally told Asif that machine learning is the idea behind machines solving complex problems in various fields by learning through data. It was then he said to himself, "why not?". After all, his chaotic and peculiar journey transformed him into a person who doesn't shy away from learning new things. Asif decided to dust off his math, statistics, and probability skills and dive directly into the deep sea of machine learning without wearing any life vest. He expected to drown and reach a greater depth in that sea, but was found floundering at the surface.This plan was about to join the list of his other grand ideas that failed spectacularly. But in a desperate attempt to salvage it, Asif took a Master's admission in a Data Science program at Oklahoma State University in Fall-22 and started learning things from scratch.Ever since then, Asif has excelled in three national-level analytics case competitions, completed a successful summer internship, graduated debt-free thanks to several scholarships, and, cherry on top, wrote this awesome introduction about himself.
