• Developed a nanoscale active membrane based on graphene and high performance thermoplastic polymers for an innovative electrostatic speaker achieving significant energy savings.• Developed polymer-plasmonic nanoparticles composite thin films using radical polymerizations and layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly for energy-efficient and spectrally selective tinted glass.• Developed an analytical method utilizing plasmonic nanoscale sensors to probe in-situ kinetics of polymer brush formation and grafting density on nanoparticle surfaces.• Investigated diverse nanocomposite inks using crosslinking and non-crosslinking polymers for 3D printing plasmonic functional materials.• Studied large-scale and shape-controlled synthesis of inorganic plasmonic nanoparticles.• Investigated dispersion of surface modified carbon nanotubes (CNT) in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) using a combination of extrusion and a novel CNT exfoliation technology for application in 3D Printing.• Investigated block-copolymer based porous carbon fibers with highly controlled meso- and micro- porosities.
