Alacrity is a Start-up incubator and educational programme that provides graduates with practical business training, software skills and mentoring to build a successful Start-Up. I was a business lead, and as part of a 5-person team, we were working towards creating a SaaS solution to help understand how people interact with their environment. During the programme, I had training in multiple programming languages, UX/UI design and Agile PM practices. Furthermore, I had to put together 5-10 detailed business plans and presented them to the Alacrity management team.

I completed a year in industry working at Dolby, the world leader in audio and imaging technology. I worked in the Consumer Entertainment Group for the Director of Multi-Screen Audio where we were tasked with pushing the adoption of Dolby’s next-generation audio codec AC-4. I investigated new business opportunities with a focus on how public service broadcasters could use AC-4. I had exposure to working with large consumer electronics manufacturers such as Sony, LG and Samsung as well as content creators which included BBC, Channel 4 and ITV Studios. My primary role was to provide business intelligence to the sales and business development teams and provide support for demos in Dolby’s Soho Square office. As a result, I developed strong data analysis and presentation skills working in teams across different time zones from San Francisco to Japan.In my spare time during my placement, I entered Dolby’s annual innovation contest, IdeaQuest where groups of Dolby employees from around the world propose new innovative ideas Dolby could develop into products. Together with another intern, I developed a conference phone with an integrated Alexa Voice Assistant which could automate many repetitive and mundane tasks at work. We were shortlisted for the finals of the competition and were flown out to San Francisco where we presented our idea to Dolby’s Board of Directors and Executive Team. We won 3 prizes from the Marketing, Consumer Entertainment and Executive Teams.

I helped launch Capital International Group’s social media portfolio. I created an initial report focusing on ways in which a financial services company could use social media to develop its corporate profile. I generated ideas for the report and created the implementation road map. I went on to create Capital’s first Blog and help grow their following to over 1,000 likes on Facebook through a combination of paid advertising and content marketing.
