InstructorUnited Studios Of Self Defense Mar 2005 - Feb 2007Working along side long time friends and under our long time martial arts teacher, I taught martial arts a couple days a week to children and adults.Teaching martial arts taught me alot about how to talk to people, how to keep students interested by making things fun (especially children!), how to show people things in ways that make sense and how to keep people moving towards their goals and keep them from getting discouraged. It also taught me how to be a good leader and taught me how to live a happy and successful life.As a personal note, I only taught for a couple of years, but studied for 8 years and received my 1st dergree black belt in August, 2003. I received my rank during a special trip of the Chinese Shaolin Monks coming to the US where they tested people going for new ranks, put on a show for us and taught us some very interesting and challenging things.

Lead DeveloperCurrent Solutions Jul 2001 - Jan 2006Current Solutions is a company which makes web based software for school district management.By the end of my time there I was in charge of - or had a strong say in - nearly everything in the company technology related. I helped make buying decisions about hardware and software, directions the company was going, new product and feature ideas, implementations of aforementioned ideas, communicating with clients, working with users to debug problems and make things better, general maintenance, researching and implementing new technologies and many many other things as well.It was a good experience both in that i was able to contribute a lot, but also that i was able to learn a lot about "real world" programming and business as well.
