As a Vice President, I am responsible for the leadership of the research area with around 170 highly skilled professionals located in Espoo, Jyväskylä and Tampere, Finland. Biomaterial processes and products research area focuses on the development of resource efficient and cost competitive process and product concepts based on renewable raw materials. VTT is a Finnish, wholly state-owned limited liability company operating under the ownership steering of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. VTT’s task as an independent and impartial research organisation is to promote the wide-ranging utilisation and commercialisation of research and technology in industry, commerce, and society.Research area’s groundbreaking research is related to eg. biomass treatments and fractionation, web-based products, films, textiles and bio-based hybrid materials. Research is carried out in world-class pilot and laboratory facilities at three locations.I am responsible of business within research area: profitability of unit, leadership of expert organisation (ca. 170 people), project portfolio, costs & resource allocation, competence development and annual planning. Key tasks include also participation to business area strategy planning, sales and business development as well as internal & external multidisciplinary collaboration.

Trespa (NL) and Arpa (IT) produce and sell composite panels, Trespa for façade cladding and laboratory furniture, Arpa for a variety of interior surfaces such as kitchens and retail furniture.I worked as a department head in Group Technology department. I led +10 FTE highly educated technology and process experts in the area of Cellulose-Resin Composite Technologies.The key areas of my work were:• Ensure awareness of the Behaviours and Values of the company and implement the expected behaviours• Identify resource/knowledge/training needs of team and translate those to short and long term recruitment and training plans• Challenge and coach the team members to continuously improve their skills and performance in a/o product development, project management, team leadership and stakeholder communication.• Inform and advise management team members in decision-making on relevant topics.• Prepare and monitor the annual budget for department, investment requests, and subsidy requests and ensure cost control is done in consistent way together with Finance department • Maintain IP portfolio and prepare patent applications as needed

The Head of the Center for Excellence in the area of paper, resin and impregnation. An Excellence Centre is executing projects for Trespa International BV and its sister company Arpa Industriale Spa:- resin development projects- optimization of semi-finished specifications- operational development projects- productivity improvement projects.

Broadview Holding owns 2 companies in the HPL business - Trespa International in the Netherlands and Arpa Industriale in Italy.The most important raw material for both companies are paper and resins.

I was having production responsibility of Kotka PM1 paper machine, which is producing in annual basis roughly 150 000 MT saturating base kraft paper. This specific paper is utilized to produce technical and decorative laminates. My tasks were:- lead paper machine production and quality improvements - lead projects related to production efficiency and product development- execute trials at the Mill and also customer's converting machines- personnel training

I was having responsibility to develop new products for two (2) impregnation machines, which are using phenol - formaldehyde resins and different type of kraft papers.These products are used to produce technical and decorative laminates. I also developed new type of PF overlays for plywood industry.
