I am a high school teacher, youth basketball coach, small business owner and rental property owner. I own The Rich Register, which compiles data on the wealthiest people in America and markets it to fundraisers and others. I started it in 1991, after working as a reporter at Forbes magazine - I specialized in working on the Forbes 400 listing of America's richest people - and Texas Monthly. At Texas Monthly I created the Texas 100, a comprehensive listing of the richest people in Texas. My true calling and passion, however, is basketball and I am blessed to have the opportunity to coach in youth basketball leagues and high school since 2009. It's the most rewarding thing I do and I love the chance to serve as a leader and positive role model for kids. I am on the Leadership Council of the Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization that holds workshops and creates online tools for coaches and parents that help create a positive, character-building youth sports culture. I also own Piker Properties, which owns rental property in Kauai, Hawaii, one of the most spectacularly beautiful places on the planet. Besides traveling to Kauai, my other vocation is golf - about once a year I will break 80.
