Like so many others, I didn’t always want to work an office job. In elementary school I wanted to work hard in a factory like my mom. In middle school I wanted to be a math teacher and feel the gratification of someone grasping a complex concept. In high school I wanted to own my own coffee shop to allow for a hospitable third location for a community to come together. I studied Business Administration, Management & Social Entrepreneurship, and Accounting & Information Systems at university but directly after graduation I moved to Chicago to study sketch comedy and improv while I was a barista during the day because my new dream was to be on SNL.Improv made me a better barista, and meeting so many different people every day made me a better improviser. However, after four years I made the leap to a standard 9-5 as an Accounts Receivables Analyst. I was so pleased to learn that I could still use my improv abilities and excellent customer service even while in such a email heavy job. Three years later I became a Senior Order Management Analyst and was delighted to use my background in every area listed above even without a customer facing role.While I am thankful for every pivot I have made, I am looking to continue using my skills in an operations analyst role.
