Since the beginning of my academic journey, I've been captivated by the intersection of biology, engineering, and medicine. As a senior at the University of Rochester studying biomedical engineering, I am driven to create a tangible impact in healthcare through innovative engineering solutions.During Summer 2021, I conducted research with Dr. Mereness and Dr. Benoit at the University of Rochester, leading to my first-authored poster presentation on "Engineering Alginate Hydrogels for Lung Inflation" at the Center for Musculoskeletal Research Symposium in Fall 2021. At the same time, I served as President of the Zeta Delta chapter of Delta Gamma Fraternity, demonstrating strong leadership and community-building skills throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. This past summer, I engaged in research at the University of Florida as part of a summer research fellowship in the Sarntinoranont Soft Tissue and Bio-Transport Laboratory. During this program, I identified inefficiencies in the data collection method, involving manual rotation of a tissue sample for analysis using Polarized Raman Spectroscopy. In response, I designed a rotation device and MATLAB program that expedites and simplifies the data collection process. As I near graduation in Spring 2024, my passion for medicine and research has me considering two paths: pursuing an MD to become a physician or delving deeper into biomedical engineering research through a PhD program.
