In this position I am able to play a role in patient care by aiding in admitting and transferring patients. I fill out and file the necessary paperwork for each patient. I also act as the point of contact for the emergency department, in which I field phone calls to the ER that could include patient reports and answering patient's questions. Also, I assist with hands on patient care. This would include obtaining labs, transferring patients, and assisting with procedures.

NSF (National Science Foundation) REU (Research Education for Undergraduates) Vanuatu summer research internship/program. During this experience I traveled to Vanuatu with the OSU and UNM cohort in the summer of 2023. We conducted anthropometrics and surveys of various households on the island. We were also able to explore the island, learn their native language, Bislama, at their university USP (University of South Pacific), and learn how to conduct anthropological research. The data that was collected is now being transferred to a digital format and analyzed for our research questions each member posed.

I was a member of the program DiCR ( Diversity in Cancer Research Summer Internship) where I conducted a clinical and translational cancer research project under the Principal Investigator, Dr. Christina Henson. My project was survey based and it aimed to gauge the compliance level of patients who were supposed to be using a vaginal dilator after their pelvic radiation therapy.

I was a member of the CRISP (Cancer Research Immersion Summer Program) cohort. In this program I was able to help in developing infographics of the Stephenson Cancer Centers cancer data briefs where cancer statistics for the Native American and Hispanic populations in Oklahoma are translated into a easily digestible and simplistic format using graphics. These graphics would convey recommended cancer screenings and prevalence of certain types for their specified demographic parameters. This would go toward the effort to minimize health disparities among minorities in Oklahoma.
