My career has been marked by a proven track record of securing grant funding and guiding organizations towards proactive problem-solving. In my current role at the New Mexico State Department of Health, I serve as the Overdose Prevention Section Epidemiologist Supervisor, where I've been promoted to lead program evaluation and data analysis for state-wide overdose prevention initiatives. I've designed and implemented strategies to evaluate program success and have successfully secured substantial grants, with a particular highlight being the acquisition of $400M in CDC grants through collaborative efforts.In my previous role as the Northeast Region Health Promotion Coordinator, I managed and maximized funding for 15 county and tribal health councils, overseeing budgets ranging from $150K to $200K. My dedication to excellence was evident as I led the development of Community Health Assessments, ensuring local priorities were effectively integrated into the State Health Improvement Plan.During my tenure at the University of New Mexico – Los Alamos, I served as a PI & Program Manager where I orchestrated successful public awareness, education, and training projects, effectively managing a $300K grant and leading a multi-agency community crisis response team.As a Psychology Professor, I developed innovative syllabi and course structures, fostering student success through active learning and self-evaluation. I served on various committees, including as the Faculty President, overseeing faculty assembly and aligning faculty workloads with nationwide standards.Throughout my career, I've also contributed to research and presented on topics related to education, violence prevention, and psychology.
