About Audrey Downs
I've always had a passion for the written word. Creative writing was my first love; as early as elementary school I was designing characters, framing plot-lines, and writing my own stories. As I grew older, this casual hobby evolved into an unceasing urge to write that drove me to pursue a Writing and Rhetoric degree at Oakland University. Many people ask me what it means to study “rhetoric." For me, it's about connecting with audiences by taking the time to understand what the audience expects and desires. I've learned how to appeal to audience interests to strengthen engagement and ensure retention. I am willing to wrangle difficult subjects, and am able to transform complex information and ideas into copy that is easily understandable by all audiences. I've had the opportunity to compose many different types of written pieces in both traditional and digital media-based forms. As a result I am adept at writing in many different styles, formats, and genres.
