Responsible for the oversight of one of three national testing laboratories for blood donor samples within the American Red Cross Biomedical System. Responsible for proper management of donor samples upon receipt at the laboratory, testing and results reporting for all samples managed by the laboratory. Ensure efficient workflow: comply with quality control standards, package insert directions, operations and maintenance procedures for all areas of the laboratory. Ensure the laboratory interprets, implements and is compliant with pertinent state, federal, AABB, CLIA, and ARC policies and procedures. Actively participates in research opportunities for new testing assays and instrumentation where the intent is to provide more efficient ways to ensure the safety, quality purity and potency of the blood supply. Responsible for managing the budget and capital assets that are assigned to the laboratory. Provide effective and strong leadership in recognizing, rewarding and motivating staff that leads to high-performance. Ensures the vision and goals for the laboratory are communicated to all laboratory staff.
