From 2009 to 2011 I taught traditional seminar and blended (online/face-to-face) courses at the university's Lebanon, IL, campus as well as satellite courses hosted at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL.Since 2011 I have taught 300-level art history courses for McKendree entirely online via the Blackboard e-learning platform.Course descriptions (from the McKendree catalog):ART 311: This course is designed to develop a general knowledge and appreciation of the history of film and photography from inception to present day. ART 314: A survey of American art, this course is designed as an introduction to architecture, painting, sculpture, prints, from the 18th century to the present with the possible inclusion of American film and photography.ART 355: This course investigates cinema as a visual art form, including how historical forces, artistic and cultural movements, and technological innovations have contributed to its aesthetic development. Students are introduced to basic concepts of photography as well as film theory through innovative and significant works from various eras, genres, and directorial oeuvres. Emphasis is placed on classic American narrative films, from the silent period to the present day.

I was pleased to join the Harper College faculty in the fall of 2015, where I taught Costume History online for four years. I designed the course, based on the existing curriculum, to be delivered via the Blackboard e-learning platform.From Harper's course catalog: FAS 110: Introduces the elements of design and color in historical perspective. Surveys historical periods of time focusing on costumes. Examines the influences of social, political and economic forces on fashion in these periods.

For 10 years I taught Introduction to Western Art for the University of Missouri – St. Louis. I began teaching the course in a traditional lecture-hall format to 75–100 students per term. When I moved to Chicago in 2011, the school accepted my proposal to develop the course in an online format delivered via the Blackboard e-learning platform. I designed the courses I taught using existing course materials supplemented by multimedia elements (such as documentary videos). Class dialogue was conducted through discussion boards as well as on VoiceThread, a web-based text/video/voice commenting platform.
