Augusto Maxwell is chair of Akerman's Cuba Practice. He has extensive experience on the U.S. embargo on Cuba, particularly with respect to the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, and has traveled extensively to the island in representation of U.S. clients. Augusto is a Lecturer of Law at Columbia University School of Law, where he co-teaches a seminar titled "Cuba: Law Policy and Transition."In addition, Augusto is a former Assistant County Attorney for Miami-Dade County, experienced in representing private and public entities in all aspects of land use regulations, public-private partnerships (P3), building code compliance, and government procurement.
