About August Schau

Trainer of software development with tools including Microsoft .NET, PowerShell, Expression Blend, Visual Studio and SQL Server. I specialize in teaching development with the .NET Framework for WPF, MVC and ASP.NET platforms in C# and VB.NET as well as Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Visual C++ with Microsoft Foundation Class Libraries and Active Template Libraries, and COM programming. Started programming in 1976 with FORTRAN on an IBM mainframe, and have worked with such languages as ALGOL-W, Access Basic, Powerhouse 4GL, Borland C++ and Visual C++. I have written lab guides for both PowerShell and Blend. Earned my BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester. Shortly after graduation I accepted a commission in the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps. Assignments included facilities maintenance and construction as well as a tour with the Seabees. In addition to engineering work I participated in the introduction of computer technology into daily operations including the use of Apple II computers running CP/M and dBase II , installing Wang Office Systems, troubleshooting the new IBM PC computers, and working with VAX/VMS databases.I speak about the appropriate application of technology to support business goals. Certifications from Microsoft include MCAD, MCSD, MCTS-SQL, MCT. I also hold CTT+ certification from CompTIA .Specialties: Windows software development and technical training C#/VB/C++.
