My name is Aum Patel, and I am a student at McMaster University studying Mechatronics Engineering and Management. I saw myself working in some aspect of mechanical engineering and manufacturing when going into middle school. Though the opportunity to join my school's robotics team came up and I chose to apply and to my shock I got accepted. After that I would say I fell in love with the software. Designing software that both collected data about its surrounding and controlled the robot itself fascinated me. From that moment I have grown my skills in embedded systems starting with Arduino and RaspberryPi, and now recently taking up the challenge of writing Firmware for the payload system of a CubeSat nano-satellite made by the McMaster Interdisciplinary Satellite Team. Through this journey I discovered the IOT which is the concept of the an internet of embedded devices that are collecting and using data from each other to control a network of devices. Exploring the IOT is the next major part of my education journey.
