I was in charge of the proper operation and deployment on the MobiquiThings mobile core network. I was the first employee of MobiquiThings. I started from scratch to build the IP core network for the 2G/3G/4G mobile technologies for connected objects (IoT). This placement was an excellent opportunity to get a foothold in the research world. My work was based on multi-class routing: differentiated routing between real time and elastic traffic (publication in progress). It addresses a routing which involves flows classification as path selection criteria. The objective was to answer whether it could be interesting to route packets differently if they belong to a realtime or an elastic flow. A simulation testbed was created via ns-2 to compare the different routing combinations. It includes a range of static routing metrics and a traffic workload model. The outcome demonstrated that the common hops count routing for both types of flow is frequently part of the best routing associations. Improvements can be established with others routing combinations as well.

This long term placement took place during my BSc and BSc Honors. It is also known as "sandwich" year. After that time, the office decided to extend our collaboration for six month, part time, until the end of my degree courses. I was the only administrator onsite.The job was organized with classic tasks for a network and system administrator on desktops, laptops and servers for a local office of 30 collaborators and very limited budget. Some of them were :-Reverse engineering network and system audit (network map, server flows, etc.).-Hardware improvement (rationalization of devices without downtime).-Improvement of the power consumption footprint.-Improvement of the centralized supervision.-Migration from Windows NT 3.1 for Domain to Windows Server 2008 for Active Directory.-Ghost image procedure for easy deployment of desktops and laptops.-Day-to-day problems debugging for users.

My placement objectives were divided in two main parts:-Creation of an auto-evaluation questionnaire for customers. It was an essential step for the engineer team to evaluate the pre-integration VoIP tasks to match the future production environnement.-Creation of a post-implementation stress tests for a generic VoIP infrastructure, here Asterisk. It qualified the engineers work with the delivery of a technical validation report to the customer. It was based on open source softwares like SIPp and Wireshark.
