This was super important to me as this was my first internship in college. He created an environment where I felt enabled to do my best and I felt comfortable asking questions. Emphasis on growth: Austin also made it a priority to help me learn and grow as much as I could while I was there. He shared learning opportunities, books, podcasts, and more to enable me as a leader. He asked hard questions to help me think about problems and made sure I felt comfortable speaking up in team meetings. I truly felt like I was part of the team and not just an intern. I felt comfortable speaking up and contributing my thoughts, and like I could truly make a difference at the NC Department of Revenue."
