After graduating from college, I was fortunate enough to satisfy my wanderlust- leaving Nothern Virginia to work at a ski resort in Colorado, joining the Peace Corps in Lesotho, and attending graduate school for applied Economics at Illinois State University (ISU).While studying for my M.S. degree in applied economics- I worked as a research assistant with the McLean county court system, providing statistical analysis and review on topics ranging from case processing time to mapping arrests involving someone with a mental health issue. My degree included a fellowship- allowing me to gain non-profit experience at the Housing Assistance Council in Washington DC. Working in the research and information division, I created statistical analyses on rural housing issues, edited the quarterly magazine, prepared for the rural housing conference, and authored a series of research notes, briefs, and memos. For the last three years, I have been a Data Scientist for Booz Allen Hamilton- serving as a Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)- working with claims data from the largest provider of health care in the United States. My role has been as an implementation contractor for the Emergency Triage, Treat, and Transport (ET3) model. The data work on this project has allowed me to wear the hat of not only a data scientist but a data engineer and architect. My work has included establishing the data structure and base code right from the launch of the ET3 model- using Teradata, SAS, and SQL. Working within CMS’s Integrated Data Repository (IDR) to establish an ET3 Analytic Data Mart (ADM), merging IDR data, National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) data, and ad hoc ET3 data. Revising the Detailed monitoring strategy and data transfer protocols. Created cross-contractor analytical files and documentation within CMS’s Chronic Condition Warehouse (CCW) for multiple supporting contractorsOutside the office, I am an avid hiker, skier, motorcycle rider, and anything else outdoors.
