My research has been centered around water quality monitoring and runoff collection. I work with a wide variety of monitoring equipment that allows for continuous monitoring of various water quality parameters.After graduating from Trinity University in 2016, I gained a wide variety of research experience in the biological sciences and natural resources field. After an internship studying sea turtles in Everglades National Park was cut short by Hurricane Irma, I was trained on water quality in Florida Bay. From that opportunity got a job at Biscayne National Park through the University of Miami to study salinity changes in the bay as a response to the freshwater inputs as a result of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. After spending almost 4 years in South Florida, I started graduate school at Oklahoma State University in the department of Natural Resources Ecology and Management. My research project focused on the impacts of cattle grazing and vegetation cover type on bacterial and nutrient contamination of surface runoff. As a Master's student, I accepted a job working for the Oklahoma Water Resources center to continue working with runoff water quality data. I received a Master's in Science in May of 2022. Currently my research continues at the same sites that I have been working on for the past 3 years with an additional 4 sites where cattle grazing practices will be controlled using virtual fencing technology. This will allow us to control and track cattle movement in an effort to evaluate the water quality benefits of excluding cattle from riparian areas.
