Hello! My name is Autumn and I’m a Senior at the University of Central Florida. My expected graduation is in the Summer of 2025. Currently, I’m involved in the Student Government Association as a Senator and the Chair of the Disability Caucus. In this position, I am working on an initiative to require all professors to use subtitles/caption aids when teaching. This aims to increase accessibility for students who are hard of hearing and help with learning retention. Additionally, I am working on a resolution on behalf of the Black Caucus, another caucus I’m in, to have UCF observe Juneteenth by suspending classes on this day. By the Spring of 2025, I will present a proposal with the letters of support I have gathered to the university's provost with this Resolution. I am also a Legislative Intern for the Policy Director at Florida Rising. Currently, I am writing a research paper on how climate change will lead to an increase in waterborne illness. This increase will affect Florida as we are in a coastal state. This research will be used to educate and draft climate change legislation to help prevent the extremes I will talk about in my paper.I aspire to be an epidemiologist. I hope to one day end up in the W.H.O, living in a foreign country, as a field agent. I love advocating, researching, legislation, and learning about infectious diseases. I’m open to any shadowing, internships, or part-time jobs available. I wish to learn as many skills as possible to best serve my community.
