Hi all! My name is Ava Joyner, I’m from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am currently studying at Georgetown University and will declare Psychology as my major come Fall 2024. I plan to minor in sociology and cognitive science and pursue further education in Forensic Psychology after my time on the Hilltop. I’ve played softball my entire life and love the sport more than anything. It has not only taught me how to be a good teammate but how to be an even better person. I’ve learned how to persevere through many challenges and now I am finally able to say that I have reached my goal of playing collegiate softball! College softball has taught me discipline like none other and I can’t wait to take the lessons I’ve learned on the field to the work place. This summer I am working at Knight’s Play Golf Center in Apex, North Carolina. I’ve worked there since I turned 16 and slowly have gained more hours and responsibilities. I mainly work in the grill preparing food, taking orders, maintaining the dining room, and processing payment but I also pick up shifts in the pro-shop, with the grounds crew, and monitoring the carts. We work hard to keep a family friendly environment where people of all backgrounds can come enjoy the game of golf without judgement. I love my customers more than anything and creating true bonds with my regulars is my favorite aspect of this job.
